Butuan City as the regional center of the Caraga Region in the Philipines has been emerging it's economic structure beacause of it's history and tourist attractions.
Butuan City has its population of 298,378 people including the street children which is the hope of our country is being seat aside seen on streets, Plaza Park, Saint Joseph Cathedral, and in the city proper. Everyday this street children are seen untidy, smelling rugby, asking alms for how many years since i was born, but the city government has done nothing to provide shelter, to provoke this malpractice and to change this children who are now growing alone with vices surrounding and affecting their emotional and physical growth.
Though their home,the Plaza Park, is just in front of the Police Station,the officers had done nothing for these children. The others are families living near the Doongan dampside where piosonous smell in being breath by children living in that area. But the worst are the children who are collecting garbage in the entire city using pedicabs,from sunrise to sunset staying anywhere for the rest of the night.
These children are in better stable in life for they seak for livelihod with their families but what about these street children whose families are knowhere to be found.
Because this children are homeless, the walkside, streets, and Plaza Park became their home where they dispose their waste anywhere making the city proper smelly and the walksides a misery way to pass by. Though there are Metro aids who cleans the streets, still on some corners the waste of these homeless children remained.
As an impact on this, the people specially students and pupils roaming in the city are affected because of an additional pollution aside from smokes, another human pollution is now affecting the health of Butuanons.
Where are the families of these seat aside children whose hope are gone and are futures unsupported by the government of Butuan City.These children are now growing in numbers with both gender and their families who are the least people in the society cannot stop this crisis that they are facing everyday.
Considering the Global Crisis our country has facing,don't these children deserve even an ounce of what a child should have?We know what would further happen if we do not act on this matter.
Let us not wait for the worse to happen but let as do the right thing for our Butuanons!
